Online Piracy: How Do They Do It? Tanzania

Almost everything can be accessed through the use of internet connection - from research materials, lessons, connect with friends and colleagues, to films and other photos. By the power of internet and social media platforms, sharing and copying everything online is a lot easier - including movies and other films.

Some trailers are available through video platforms that, with the use of other download applications can be easily accessed and copied to another platform. This happens most commonly for movies and TV shows - online streaming accounts and websites are where these videos kept and can be viewed by anyone on the internet. When a written document or a video of such is shared with or without monetary returns without the consent of the original creator, this can be considered as piracy. However, up until now, the World Wide Web seems to have a difficulty monitoring and preventing piracy from happening.

So how do they do it? Unfortunately, the people behind piracy more often than not have people behind the production staff of a movie or a record artist which gives them access to these kinds of films and information. With trust and loyalty issues inside a movie outfit or a music studio, piracy becomes a hard issue to tackle, most especially with money involved.

The damages that piracy and the people behind the creation of it are indeed very frustrating. More often than not, some are taken inside the movie house and uploaded online for free or limited pay streaming. The producers, artists, directors and production staff suffer loss if a movie or TV show is uploaded prior to its play date online. The copyright of the movie itself is being breached by this online piracy.

Music and soundtracks are one of the victims of piracy. Everything can be easily downloaded without paying a designated amount to the artist and to the record label that produced the music. Torrents and other applications are the instruments for such. These platforms make it easier for music to be pirated and shared without the necessary rights.

Livelihood of these artists and producers are at stake. Since the release of the pirated materials, everyone can have a copy of these works for free, leaving almost nothing to the curators. Millions of dollars are reported to be lost because of online piracy and this has become the resort of many - earning or not - to access these crops. If online piracy remains to be unsolved and attended, the amount of loss music artists and movie producers endures continues to increase.
