Choosing a good domain name is crucial to the success of your business website. Your domain name is your 'brand' online, so picking the wrong one could be disastrous. Fortunately there are several tools available online which should help you pick the right one.
1. Company Name Generator
If you are starting a completely new business and do not yet have a domain name, the Company Name Generator tool may give you a few good ideas. All you have to do is click the "Generate" button until it creates something you like. The tool can be tweaked, allowing you to set the number of vowels and consonants you want in your new company name, or to adjust the order in which they appear. The tool also tells you whether the appropriate URL for each suggestion is available for registration. The only problem with the Company Name Generator is that many of the suggestions are complete nonsense!
Deleting Domains
Domain name registrations last for a finite period of time before they need to be renewed. Starting at one year and moving up to a full decade, some registrations are set to last longer than others. The Deleting Domains tool checks for domains registrations based on your chosen keyword that are due to expire soon, giving you advance warning of extra names that will be available soon. This tool is doubly useful if your brand name has previously been unavailable.
3. Domize
This nifty tool takes your chosen keyword, say 'abcde' and then automatically checks for 'a', 'ab', 'abc', and 'abcd' as well as 'abcde' across multiple domains at once. Perfect if you have a really long keyword or company name that could be creatively shortened. Some of the suggestions will be incoherent, but they may provide the building blocks for something more creative.
Even if none of the above tools helps you find the perfect domain, they should at least give you a few more ideas to play with. Good luck!
