Have a Plan
First I will touch on the issues we all encounter as newbies to affiliate programs and marketing. Our biggest, most costly expense ever is not having a plan in the first place.
Sure, you can search for grand marketing programs that will bill you monthly for the use of their system and training. That will absolutely work if you have a plan and are willing to hand over much needed cash you could be using in better ways to grow your business.
Minimize your choices
Start with one opportunity and learning platform. Adding too much too quickly will either have you pulling your hair out or getting so overwhelmed you just give up. Don't add gasoline to the fire in the beginning. Learn through one platform completely with an established step by step directive that lays out details for your plans and goals.
Know your marketing niche
You know you want to be a super affiliate, but do you know what you want to sell or to whom you will sell it? It's almost impossible to promote Uncle Fred's awesome hunting guide to vegetarians or animal rights activists. You want to sell Uncle Fred's awesome hunting guide, so you need to be aware of where your target audience is for a hunting guide.
What if you have followers that followed you because of the way you dress? Some may be interested in Uncle Fred's awesome hunting guide, but chances are, you will lose their interest if you don't deliver your style ingredients. This idea brings me to the importance of establishing lists to best provide what each individual is interested in so that you are relevant to their needs.
Build your Lists
Your first list is always going to be the people directly around you. You know the audience, and you can establish product lists based on this list. Knowing how to create and build on your lists can be very confusing and time consuming without the proper knowledge and tools. Your marketing platform should provide in depth worksheets and tutorials for you to successfully build your lists according to your action plans.
Focus on the only the best
Slow down when it comes time to choose a product or create a product list for a specific audience. Know your sources and seek out the top proven affiliate networks with the top paying products. Now don't get me wrong, just because a product will pay you more does not make it worthy of investment. If you are promoting a product to people that trust you, and they decide that product isn't worth what they have paid, they will not be so quick to trust you with the next product you try to promote to them. Keep it real, and don't sacrifice your followers for cash for junk products.
Be consistent
Be consistent in all you do from the types of products you offer to the content you update. Your viewers expect whatever you do to be done on a consistent level. If you are a blogger and offer recipes on Wednesdays, then be sure you continue that. Your viewers see your activity and they look forward to seeing what's next. If you stop offering the content they are after, they'll stop looking for you.
There's so many fill in the gap programs offered out there that it's tough to find one that has it all laid out for newbies. I have only seen this depth from one source and of course, I had to jump on it. It has totally changed my affiliate status from almost no earnings to an organized, detailed, proven system that I can keep up with and earn big on.
